What personal data we collect and why

Comments

When you leave a comment, we collect the information you provide in the comment form, your IP address and browser information to filter out unsolicited content.

An anonymous string (hash) generated from your email address can be passed to Gravatar for verification. You can find Gravatar's privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After you approve a post, your profile picture will be publicly visible.

Media

Avoid uploading images that contain location data (EXIF GPS). These can be downloaded and extracted by other visitors.

Cookies

You can save your name, email address and website address in cookies when you post. These are valid for one year.

We place a temporary cookie on the login page to verify browser acceptance. This does not contain any personal data and will be deleted when you close it.

When you log in, cookies store your login details and display preferences. Login cookies are stored for 2 days and display settings for 1 year. If "Remember me" is selected, they are retained for two weeks.

When you edit an article, we store an additional cookie which expires after one day.
